Banana Sound: Get Your Reggae, Dancehall Fix at Zenta Tonight!

Total Croatia News

Banana Sound to bring the freshest reggae, dancehall vibes to Club Zenta Thursday 17th August 2017.

Anyone else out there a reggae, hip-hop or dancehall fan? We have a huge reggae, dub and dancehall scene back in New Zealand and sometimes I really miss it. Thankfully, the world of music spans oceans and there are local artists bringing this ‘Flava’ in Split.

So, if you want to get your hips moving or just sway to some funky, reggae beats, get down to Zenta Club tonight for ‘Banana Zvuk’.

Banana Zvuk consists of Yuri (from St!llness) and Luka (TBF); as a DJ collective, they have been playing together since 2006 and their style is a combination of reggae, hip-hop, dancehall while not afraid to drop a little bass. They create their own hits, remixes and collaborate with domestic and foreign performers – TBF, Bad Copy, Šo! Mazgoon, Tenor Fly… just to name a few.

It doesn’t actually matter your music tastes, people search them out simply for good vibes and even better dance music. They have performed in dozens of clubs throughout the region and in festivals such as Seasplash, InMusic, XStatic and tonight they will be at Zenta Club, Split.

Zenta has recently moved towards being more of a venue, than a specified genre-oriented club with a goal to beat shallow commercialism out of the overall scene with events like this and a varied live music line-up, eventually, they hope to re-establish Zenta as the City’s core of urban nightlife.

Speaking to Nikola Čelan (TBF), he said he has been to a bunch of Banana Sound gigs and compares them to weekend programs he has attended at Notting Hill Arts Club. “Their set, based on turntables is on par with what you will find in London. So, we all had an agreement to make their first gig in summer, hoping for a broader attendance of the international audience who dig the sound and tempo of the freshest of contemporary reggae, dancehall, and bass music.”

This is what I love about Split, the live music scene and the passion of locals to bring quality music back to the public. Not the same ‘summer mix’ you will hear along most of the coast – do I need to say the word Despacito?

Please tell me where else in the world you will find a beachside setting like Zenta and artists who have played at some incredible music festivals bringing their freshest tunes, with entrance a mere 20 kuna (€3)! Actually, cancel that – it is basically free because you will be welcomed with a shot of rakija!

Seriously Croatia, sometimes I really love you.

And if this wasn’t enough to entice you, I am just gonna leave this here – get your day started with some good vibes. See you all at 10 pm tonight at Zenta!
