In 2018, Split recorded an increase of 16% in arrivals and 15% in overnights compared to the same period last year.

Alijana Vukšić, the director of the Split Tourist Board, congratulated all tourist workers, whether directly or indirectly involved in the development of Split tourism, to mark World Tourism Day on Thursday, reports Dalmatinski Portal on September 27, 2018.

Split, as the most successful tourist destination in Croatia in 2017, continues to record excellent results in tourist traffic. Since the beginning of the year, 754,964 arrivals and 2,253,441 overnight stays have been realized, which is an increase of 16% in arrivals and 15% in overnights compared to the same period last year.

“Tourist traffic indicators are evidence of an increasing awareness of the importance of tourism, and raising customer satisfaction and offering quality is the main goal of tourism development in our city. This year, the World Tourism Day is dedicated to ‘Tourism and Digital Transformation’, which seeks to raise awareness of the importance of digital technologies in the development of tourism. We are increasingly using new IT solutions to communicate with all stakeholders, to inform and provide new experiences to tourists. On the occasion of World Tourism Day, we are giving our citizens a free tour of the Diocletian’s Palace through Virtual Reality glasses, available at the entrance to the Ethnographic Museum of Split (Ul. Iza Vestibula 4),” Vukšić said.

“We are inviting everyone to celebrate World Tourism Day with us, with the performance of the Majorettes and the Providenca Group, at the Riva’s central stage at 8 pm tonight,” she added.
