The famous Zlatna Vrata (or Golden Gate) Cinematheque was the former Romanesque Palace that was reconstructed in 1958. On December 18th, 1961, the Cultural Centre of the Workers’ University “Djuro Salaj” (today’s Center for Culture and Lifelong Learning “Golden Gate”) first opened, and three years later the entire building was used, within which was a hall with 250 seats. The first movie was shown in November 1964 – and it was the Slovenian film “Ne plači Petre”.
