Is it almost that time of year again?

The first cruise ship of the year sailed into the port of Split today carrying 333 passengers and 180 crew members. The Port Authority announced that this year cruise ships are expected to achieve even more passengers than last year’s 280,000, reports Dalmacija News on March 5, 2017.

“At present, we have registered 270 cruise ships that will sail until the end of this year, which is less than last year’s 285 that brought in 280,000 passengers to Split. This year, more cruise ship passengers are expected than last year because the cruise ships that will sail this year to Split are larger and can carry more passengers,” said Vjekoslav Grgić, head of Port Operations at the Split Port Authority.

Grgić also added that the current number of registered cruise ships (270) that will sail into Split this year is likely to increase, which will also contribute to the growing number of cruise tourists this year.

It is expected that this year cruise ships will bring in around 300,000 passengers to Split.
