What’s heating up at Zinfandel Food & Wine Bar this summer? Here’s a hint: A LOT.
The sizzling rays of the sun are finally kissing our skin, the salty smell of the sea is permeating through the streets of Split, and perhaps best of all, we have a whole new range of seasonal treats to enjoy all summer long. What’s better than a summer in Split? A summer at Zinfandel Food & Wine Bar, of course.
One of the most impressive new seasonal menus delighting hungry out-of-towners and locals alike is that of one of Split’s most trusted establishments, Zinfandel, who opened their doors just before the peak season in 2013. Building the respect and confidence of foodies since day one, it’s no surprise that Zinfandel has really knocked it out of the park (er, the palace?) this season, and we’re here to tell you all about their latest offers.
For starters, this hard-to-get(into) restaurant has just made a bit more room for their loyal fans. After a revamp over the long winter season, Zinfandel has now increased their seating capacity with 16 more places for you and your friends. And with live music every night, where else would you rather settle for the evening?
Zinfandel’s summer menu, however, is the real star of the show, and in particular, three award-winning dishes that blew away the competition at the Split Gourmet Expo held by SKMER (Chefs of Mediterranean and European Region Cuisine) in April.
For starters, Zinfandel’s prawn ceviche is a summer must-have. Not your standard ceviche, however, Zinfandel’s packs in flavor with mesclun greens, orange supreme, fermented garlic and cucumber for a fresh combination made for those sweltering days.
Next up, in true Dalmatian summer fashion, enjoying a good piece of lamb is key. Zinfandel’s prized lamb dish is a filet served with potato and garlic espuma (foam), a truffle souffle, and radish. Boom.
Zinfandel’s signature dishes that have turned into customer favorites remain the mussels ‘Buzara’ with prošek, figs, and Trieste sauce, the spinach agnolotti pasta (our personal favorite), and, of course, the duck risotto. You really can’t go wrong.
Last but not least, the absolute kicker of the winning bunch is Zinfandel’s champion house special dessert – made with a warm vanilla sponge, white chocolate, caramelized popcorn, almonds, butterscotch, and creme fraiche. Oh. My.

But what to wash the flavor explosion down with? We’d recommend the Champagne Supernova (with limoncello, sparkling wine, water, and mint), the Chilled Colombian with tequila, cold brew coffee, bitters and maraschino, or the Summer Buzz – complete with chamomile-infused gin, Cointreau, eggs whites and more.
It’s crucial to remember that Zinfandel is still running their standout wine tastings every day from 11:00-17:00, but booking ahead is mandatory as they’re subject to availability.
So what do you think, is there a better place to spend your summer?
