At midnight we welcomed in a new year, and 2017 is already greeting those of us in Split fairly well. The sun is shining, the sea is smiling, and motivations are high to make this year better than the last. So what are some ways you can enjoy the first day of the new year in Split?
Here are just some of the many ways you can kick start this year in Split today.
Get Active: The forecast is showing rain tomorrow, and while “rain” seems like a foreign word to us Splicani nowadays, soaking in today’s sunshine becomes that much more important. Today’s sunshine also goes hand in hand with the New Year resolutions many of you have: getting active. What better way than to get active than to be outside in the sun getting active? Get outside today and take a walk along the beach (perhaps from Bacvice to Znjan?) or enjoy a hike up to the top of Marjan. A stroll through Sustipan never hurt anyone either.
Be Outside: Once again, sunshine. But really, who wouldn’t want to be outside today welcoming in a new year with a coffee date set up along on the Riva or within the walls of Diocletian’s stomping grounds? Maybe have a picnic in the park, enjoy the Christmas Markets one more time, or just claim your real estate on one of those perfectly pristine benches lined along the Riva (and the Western Riva). Enjoy the fruits of Split’s labor today.
Have a Bite: It may be Sunday and a holiday but you’d be surprised that there are some restaurants open. And really, who wants to cook today anyway? It’s always best to call ahead as some restaurants may have reduced hours (and others may have some holiday specials) so don’t shy away from trying!
Enjoy Art: There are some galleries open today! Feast your eyes on some art at Galerija Kula, Salon Galic, and Galerija Umjetnina (but do also keep an eye out for limited working hours).
See a Film: Cinestar at Joker and and Cineplexx at City Center One are showing films today, and Kino Karaman even has 3 films lined up for this evening beginning at 17:30.
While these are just a few of the outings we had in mind for you to enjoy today, we already know any day in Split is a good one, and the first day of the new year is just the icing on the cake.
