Now this is something to look forward to.
The winners of the conceptual arrangement of the new theme park at Poljud are designers Ozana Ursić and Vedran Kasap! The announcement was made today at the press conference held by the ‘Our Hajduk’ Association and is part of the project “For All Time” – a project in which fans of Hajduk repay the acquired 24.53 percent of the club’s shares with their donations, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on December 14, 2017.
Ursić and Kasap’s work was celebrated in competition with a total of 18 submissions.
“The winning work has, to a great extent, fulfilled the criteria and offered a solution that combines a monument and identifying qualities. It is a group of volumes of sculptural dynamics that is read from only one point as the word ‘Hajduk’. The elements contain a concrete structure with brass plates that cover the front of the Hajduk inscription,” explained Branko Franceschi, director of the Split Art Gallery and also the president of the jury.
The theme park should be located in the ring on the west side of the stadium, by the Membership and Fan Club, although this is still an open question. The park will be a unique marriage of club and sponsor together with donors in this part of Europe. All donors who give 7,500 HRK over the next nine years will have a dedicated space with their names at the thematic park.
“We are satisfied with all the projects we have received because it is a demanding task to achieve in a relatively short period. We mostly debated over the top two concepts. I must say that as an art historian I am disappointed with how little sculptures were in the contest because this is essentially a demanding sculptural task in a public space. We are delighted that the submitted works solved the location as a public space, something Split is missing.”
“The winning solution is not unknown but is an idea of something that is unclear at certain points. The space itself produced a sense of communion and identification. Everyone will take photographs and selfies here, thus promoting Split as a tourist destination,” added Franceschi.
The Hajduk label, as part of the winning solution, should be 10 meters wide and 3.5 meters high, and the idea is that you can find your name on the monument via a mobile app.
“Now, we will first contact the author and work with them to further develop the project dynamics. After that, we will begin with the performance of the project, look at cost estimates, and other things. Construction and location permits should also be obtained. We cannot say when this will begin, but the intention is in the spring,” said project manager Tomislav Mikulic.
All submitted works will be exhibited on the ground floor of City Center One from December 19 to January 10, 2018.
