The charity race “Run for One More Meal” will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at 18:00 on the Riva.
The humanitarian race is being organized by Mary’s Meals – Split in cooperation with the Office of the Youth Ministry in Split – Makarska Archdiocese, the Tourist Board of Split, the Triathlon Club Split and the Volunteer Center Skac_St, reports Split.com.hr on May 25, 2017.
Mary’s Meals is an international charitable movement that feeds more than one million hungry children each year. The vision of the organization is to give each child in a place of education one meal a day. In addition to encouraging education, the purchasing of food from local residents and volunteers stimulates the local economy and the involvement of the entire community. To feed one child it takes an average of 120 HRK per year, and roughly 93% of the amount paid goes directly to the child. More information can be found on www.marysmeals.hr.
The goal of this humanitarian event is to sensitize the public about the problem of hunger in the world and to encourage people to act for the benefit of others.
The race, which will take place today on the Riva, will be divided into three categories: for little and big kids (150 and 300 m) and for adults (2.5 km). Start numbers will be given out from 17:00. The program will be led by Split actor Pere Eranović.
After the race, there will be an entertainment program and a screening of the film “Generation Hope”. The entertainment program will present cheerful clowns, the Solin bubamarci, Bruno Mijanic, VIS Gloria and the band Prevail.
