According to an announcement by the department store, IKEA has confirmed that they will open a pick-up center in Split by the end of August this year.
The commercial building will be designed as a “pick-up point”, a place where their customers are able to pick-up ordered goods without paying delivery from Zagreb. The location, however, has yet to be revealed, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on March 15, 2017.
The plans for the IKEA warehouse should occupy about 1,500 square meters, while around 1,000 square meters will be an exhibition space – or a place where customers will be able to ”feel” the furniture.
“In the first phase, we have planned for a pick-up center for our customers in Split-Dalmatia County and other counties in southern Croatia who will be able to order and pick-up IKEA’s products. In the second phase, there is the possibility of opening an exhibition center along with the pick-up center, displaying a limited number of products.
‘IKEA Croatia’ wants customers on the coast close to their solutions while allowing customers a tour of the desired products before purchase. It is, at the same time, in line with our global strategy by which customers want to have a more comfortable shopping experience across multiple channels,” said Igor Štefanac, manager of public relations for IKEA Croatia.
By implementing a ”pick-up point”, IKEA customers in Dalmatia will be saving a buck or two. Currently, for items such as beds, sofas or cabinets, there is a fixed delivery fee to Split for 799 kuna. On top of that, there is another 200 kuna fee if you request the purchased product be brought into your apartment.
So where will the new IKEA pick-up center be and when is the grand opening? We’ll be updating this space as more information comes in. Stay tuned!
