Lights Out: Split Joins the Earth Hour Movement Tonight

Daniela Rogulj

This year, lights will go out all over our beautiful country to honor “Earth Hour”.

The city of Split will join the Earth Hour movement this year by turning off the lights on the southern facade of the Diocletian’s Palace. The action will take place this evening, March 25, from 20:30 to 21:30, reports Dalmacija News on March 25, 2017.

All citizens of Split are invited to join the action at 20:30 by switching off the lights in their households for one hour.

Earth Hour is the global action by WWF (World Wildlife Fund for Nature) and will be held for the 10th consecutive year this year. Croatia has joined the movement since 2009.

The Earth Hour movement evolved from the initiative first held in Sydney, Australia in 2007. The large global movement saw participation in 7,000 cities across more than 160 countries last year.

The main objective of this campaign is to raise awareness for inhabitants throughout the world that they must begin taking into account the resources we consume.
