To no one’s surprise, this is going to be another record-breaking year for Split Airport.

Director of Split Airport, Lukša Novak, announced that through June 6, 2017, 540,000 passengers had been recorded at Split Airport – an increase of 28 percent! Index.hr reports the details on June 10, 2017.

“The preseason was good. We had 60 percent growth in April and a 25 percent increase in May and June. This month we expect over 300,000 passengers and we plan to conclude the year with 2.5 million passengers,” Novak said.

Last year, Split Airport recorded 2.2 million passengers, with a colossal half a million passengers registered by July!

Work on the expansion of the terminal at Split Airport, which is a project valued at 450 million HRK, is progressing on track, and we should see its completion by the end of 2018.

“Everything is going according to plan, and it is clear that this season will be tough. We are ready, and the numbers require the maximum engagement,” Novak added.

This weekend, Split Airport expects over 20,000 passengers – and on Saturday alone 96 planes will land.

Novak added that the airport has noticed a growth in guests arriving from the Far East, but the strongest markets remain Great Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, and France.
