Split’s newest high rise, which held an official opening ceremony and party on Friday, boasts a view many will be talking about time and time again, but what really is it all about?

Split’s newest high rise houses the new offices of Societe Generale (SG) Splitska Banka. This 12 floor, 50-meter-high office tower “West Gate” is located on Domovinskog rata and was designed by architect Otto Baric.

From Monday, 5 December, 600 employees from the current 6 Splitska Banka locations around the city will begin to move into the new skyscraper, with work continuing on the building through the end of the month and in January 2017.

Marijo Grabovac, project manager for SG Splitska Banka, confirmed the key information to Slobodna Dalmacija.

“It is a smart building, built by modern standards with an energy certification class ‘A’, which provides 30% savings in power consumption. There are five underground floors with 200 parking spaces and a ground floor and 12 floors. Work began on 2 February last year, with the main contractor being the Zagreb company ‘Technique’, who is engaged in the construction of 30 Croatian companies,” said Grabovac.

“Members of the Board will make the key decisions of the rooms on the 12th floor, the upper floors of the individual departments, offices and meeting rooms, and the ground floor will open a new branch of SG Splitska Banka. On each floor, the walls in front of the elevators have images of our city with different motifs such as Prokurative, Tomića stine…”

Construction of the office tower has changed the vision of the city, and will certainly mean a new chapter in the development of Splitska Banka, which has been operating since 1965.
