Be prepared for the crowds this weekend… and plan ahead!
This weekend, about 137,000 passengers are expected to travel through the Split airport and ferry port in both directions, which is a record when compared to this time last year – and for the next few weeks, announcements call for even greater traffic in these two Split hubs, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on July 21, 2018.
“Today and tomorrow, there will be about 80,000 passengers through the Split Ferry Port and more than 16,000 vehicles, which is the biggest traffic weekend this year,” said Jelena Ivulić, head of the Jadrolinija agency in Split on Saturday.
According to her, even more traffic is expected at the Split Ferry Port in the next few weeks.
Split Airport also expects record traffic this weekend.
“Today and tomorrow, Split Airport should see about 57,000 passengers, which is the biggest weekend turnover this year, and in the following two weekends, according to the announcements, we will have even greater passenger traffic,” said Mate Melvan from Split Airport.
The largest number of airline passengers arriving at Split Airport is from Great Britain, followed by Germany, France, and Scandinavian countries.
“Split Airport is connected with 100 destinations in 25 countries through these destinations, and airplanes are coming with travelers from all around the world,” said Melvan.
He added that in the first six months of this year, passenger traffic at Split Airport was 15.7 percent higher than in the same period last year.
