We might have a few more years before we can visit the new terminal at Split airport, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look.
Many of us are aware that Split airport is receiving a bit of an upgrade in the form of a new airport terminal. While we’ve waited what seems like forever already, the construction of the terminal has been plagued with delays, and we know now that the expected opening date isn’t until July 2019, reports ExYuAviation.com on June 30, 2017.
Because we have another couple of years before we can experience this masterpiece in the flesh, we thought we would tease our readers with mockups of the new airport terminal, courtesy of Ex-YU Aviation News.
The new airport terminal will be over 35,000 square meters and will sit between the existing terminal on the east and the apron on the west. The terminal is expected to boast a basement, ground floor, first floor and a gallery and should be able to accommodate 3.5 million passengers a year.
Not only will the space separate arriving and departing passengers, but it will have a new baggage sorting facility and a car park and bus terminal which will be able to maintain 900 cars over 35,500 square meters. There will even be a pedestrian bridge!
The cost of the new airport terminal is valued at 59.4 million EUR.
Here’s a closer look.
