Workshop: Lighting Design with Mirko Pivčević this Saturday!

The award-winning Split born cinematographer Mirko Pivčević is hosting a workshop at Klub Kocka this Saturday as part of a daily program put on by this year’s Split Spot Festival. The workshop will be about lighting design and is open to all professionals, enthusiasts and those who just want to learn something new about lighting in photography and camerawork.

After graduating from the School of Fine Arts a Photographic Designer, Mirko entered the Zagreb Academy of Drama Arts in the Department of Recording and later graduated in 2007, submitting the film “A Wonderful Night in Split” for his graduation work. That same year, Pivčević won his third Golden Arena for World War 11 film “The Living and the Dead” (Živi i mrtvi). His next film “Donkey” (Kenjac) earned him his fourth Golden Area in 2009.

 

He has made several documentaries and numerous notable films collaborating with directors such as Radoslav Jovanov Gonzo, Mauricio Ferlin, Predrag Licina, Tomislav Rukavina, Zoran Pezo, Goce Vaskov, and many Slovenian directors.

 

He has also worked on many other domestic films in recent years, such as “Šuti” (Lukas Nola, 2013), “Visoka modna napetost” (Philip Šovagović, 2013),”Svećenikova djeca” (Vinko Brešan, 2013), “Josef” (Stanislav Tomic, 2011), “Lea i Darija” (Branko Ivanda, 2011) and “Sami” (Lukas Nola, 2001). Pivčević has won numerous awards, both at home and abroad. Thus far, he has received four Golden Arena awards for his work behind the camera, and was nominated for a Golden Frog at the prestigious Camraimage Film Festival in 2005.

 

This workshop will be held on Saturday, May 28th from 12h-15h at Klub Kocka, located on Ulica Slobode 28.
