January the 4th, 2025 – The 2024 Zagreb County tourist numbers have outshone those of the record-breaking, pre-pandemic year of 2019.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the 2024 Zagreb County tourist numbers have well and truly outshone the previously record numbers of 2019. Zagreb County has achieved a significant 14 percent more tourist arrivals and overnight stays than in 2023.
Now we’ve turned to 2025, Zagreb County tourist numbers should hopefully continue on an upward trajectory as the focus will be firmly on integrated destination management. There will also be an extra effort employed in finding new content to extend the season. As such, we can expect these very positive trends to continue throughout the year ahead.
169.4,000 tourists came to Zagreb County in 2024, and they achieved almost 307,000 overnight stays. That’s not only more than was recorded back in 2023, it even outdoes the worshipped pre-pandemic year of 2019. The Director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board, Ivana Alilović, stated that this best demonstrates the progress of tourism.
With more tourists and overnight stays in 2024, Zagreb County is among only a few in all of Croatia to have experienced double-digit increases compared to 2023.
The many diverse destinations across the wider Zagreb area successfully attract visitors with their natural beauty, cultural heritage and authentic food and wine experiences. Among them is Velika Gorica, a town near Zagreb which few ever visited in previous years. It has transformed from that into being the most visited, with a share in total tourist traffic of more than 36 percent.
Jastrebarsko closely followed with 20 percent, Sveta Nedelja with 18 percent and gorgeous little Samobor with 11 percent.
