Tired of Picigin? Play Glavomet

Pretty much everyone who visits Split knows about picigin, a beach game that has made Bačvice beach famous. However, almost every Split beach has its sport or a game that is its trademark. For example, Firule , the second largest sandy beach in Split a few hundred meters east of Bačvice, has glavomet. Freely translated, we could call it headball. It’s a football variation played in a shallow sea, where passes can be made only by head. No hands, no feet, just heads.

To see how the best headball players look in action, come to Firule on Sunday, August 25. Starting at 10 am they will play a traditional tournament. Two-members teams will compete through eliminations, and the winner gets a trophy and a cash prize that depends on the number of teams taking part.
