There was a point in my life last year when waiters at Cantina started recognising me because I ate lunch there every other day, but then our love affair came to an abrupt end when one of the saddest moments in my life happened – they discontinued my all-time favourite dish, Ravioli with sun-dried tomatoes, butter and sage.
Don’t get me wrong, all the other pastas I’ve tried at Cantina are amazing, but as the saying goes, once you go Ravioli with sun-dried tomatoes, you never go back.
I’ve slowly come to terms with my Ravioli-less fate, so I was thrilled when Dobra Hrana reported that Cantina has a new chef.A couple of days ago I went there with some friends and I wasn’t that hungry (but, you know, I can always eat), so I opted for a bruschetta + a glass of Malvazija after-work special for 30 HRK, which was a pretty good (and delicious) deal
Ok, my precious Ravioli are not back, but the restaurant has some great new stuff on the menu because Chef Josip Pašalić has decided to make some small, but significant changes in Cantina.
“There aren’t any radical menu changes, but we wanted to take our existing meals to the next level. We also added a few new options to the menu and they’ve already proven to be hits among our guests,” Chef Jakov said.
The new additions include pasta ripiena – pasta filled with ricotta and spinach, cheese and pear or creamy salmon, ricotta and Grana Padano; and there are also more meat dishes such as meatballs, ragu, beefsteak and rumpsteak.
There’s also a children’s menu for the little ones and the unavoidable children’s menu staple – Spaghetti Bolognese.
What are you waiting for, head over to Cantina and try the best pasta in town, just don’t mention that the crazy Ravioli lady sent you.
