Zagreb ZOO is preparing an exciting event this weekend: on Saturday, May 6th, the ZOO is organising an event called “Australia Day” in collaboration with the Australian Embassy in Zagreb. The visitors will get acquainted with peculiar animals, customs, sports and gastronomy of the smallest continent in the world.
A lecture on diverse Australian fauna will be held in a special educational corner, introducing the audience to the residing central bearded dragon, a reptile originating from the arid zone of Australia’s Northern territory.
In the Tropical house, the lecturers will talk about the largest coral reef in the world. As Australia is known for investing in sustainable development goals, the youngest zoo visitors will also learn about the importance of recycling through creative games.
Other planned activities include a cooking class and an art workshop, as well as an exciting sports programme: select players from Aussie Rules Football clubs will teach the kids a couple of basic game techniques.
All participants will be provided with a special ‘Australian’ passport; after they’ve collected all the stamps at various spots, the children will receive a small gift from the ZOO.
