Zagreb ZOO is hosting a double celebration programme tomorrow, June 10, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., to celebrate the 92nd birthday of the ZOO and the first birthdays of lion cubs Tuma and Uzuri.
The programme starts at 11 when the lion family will be served cake and its youngest members will be given a special birthday present. Visitors will also be able to enjoy some cake at Zebra’s Square.

This is the ZOO’s first birthday after the renovation – ten new facilities have been built and nine additional have been renovated. The ZOO now has even better conditions for scientist and explorers to work in, the animals are better protected, and visitors can learn more about the animal kingdom and its connection to people.
The programme on Saturday will consist of various educational and entertaining lessons on lions and the African savanna.

This will be a great occasion to learn more about the cubs and how they’ve grown and learnt new things over the past year – there will be stories about what their first encounter with water looked like, how they like to spend time cuddling with their mom, and the birthday celebration will have a charity component as well – a box for donations will be put in the souvenir shop, so you can donate funds to help cure African children of malaria. One dose costs only 5 HRK.
