A new restaurant is opening this month in Zagreb. 50 is a burger and champagne bar located on European Square, focusing on a gourmet food offering and hand crafted cocktails.

50 is the brainchild of Adena Lavin. Raised in New York City and Malaysia, the menu is globally inspired. The team is led by Adena, her general manager Ivana Ajtic and Executive Chef Nikola Markovic.

The style can be deemed no other than Modern American – classic American dishes created with global flavors and fine dining techniques. Every item on the menu except the ketchup is made in house to best control perfect quality and show the exemplary skills of our culinary team.

The menu is comprised of burgers, fries, creative salads, American classic sandwiches, and a sweets selection. All burgers are 100% beef from Croatia. We use three different cuts of beef and the surrounding fat of each muscle. The beef is hand ground, seasoned, and formed daily. The potatoes are hand cut and triple, some might even say quadruple cooked to create the perfect crispy outside and fluffy inside.

The produce is all organic or from small local farms. We do our absolute best to use what is in season, meaning our menu is ever changing.

The burgers range from 45 kn for the Classic to 75 kn for our lamb burger. The star menu item is the Truffle Burger for 70 kn, along with our truffle fries for 45 kn. The truffle burger has grilled fresh foie gras imported from France, truffle cheese, truffle aioli, and even fresh shaved truffles. We love fresh shaved truffles at 50, and tend to go a little overboard on our generosity.

Our twists on American classics include the Philly Cheesesteak, Shrimp Po’Boy, corn dogs, and crispy chicken wings.

There is an extensive beverage list with items being cleanly paired with each menu item. Our champagnes are from lesser known houses throughout the region, and we continue to seek smaller houses to give our guests the most intriguing options. Selection includes Collard Picard Brut as our house champagne, Ace of Spades instead of Dom Perignion, Delamotte, Fleury, and Sergei Matheiu. Sparkling wines highlight Croatia’s best, including Tomac, Kolaric, Sember, and Kurtalj. Three champagnes are available by the glass, including our house Collard Picard, prices range from 75 kn – 90 per glass. Sparkling wines start from 210 kn for a bottle and all are available by glass starting at 35 kn.

The cocktails are where 50 really shines. A carefully selected list of 12 cocktails are currently crafted with late winter and early spring inspired flavors. The cocktail list will continue to evolve as 50 gets to know it’s clientele and better serve them. Cocktails include Coco Chanel Martini, The Ascott, New York Sour, Penicillin, Midnight Martinez, and Pear and Elderflower Collins. The menu is not the only option though. Every guest is welcome to request their own specific drink or request the bartender’s choice. This allows 50 to give an even more personal touch to each guest’s experience.

The staff is all under 30, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere. Hip Hop and R&B is played throughout the space to keep with the overall inviting theme. The staff strives to make every moment of the guests’ time at 50 exceed all expectations. The staff is well trained and versed in all our cocktails, and menu items, so please ask away!
