Mayor Milan Bandić and MIrka Jozić, head of the City Office for Economy, labour and entrepreneurship, presented the project called “Zagreb – an innovative city” (Zagreb – inovativni grad) at a press conference held on April 5, 2017. Designed as a platform to improve communication with citizens through social media networks, the project aims to contribute to a more efficient work of the city administration.
“We try to be innovative, transparent, efficient and effective as much as we can and this is an irreplaceable means of communication, representing investment in a smart city. We do our best to increase our innovation capacity, improve communication with our citizens and keep up with the times, technology and communication development,” Mayor Bandić said, adding that the 4 kn ticket idea came from a citizen and he was hoping for similar creative ideas in the future as well.
“Mobile applications such as Moj Zagreb (“My Zagreb”) enable citizens to report problems; Otvoreni proračun (“Open Budget”) indicates transparency, and today marks another big event for transparency, effectiveness and efficiency of the city administration,” Ms. Mirka Jozic stated.
Project manager Miroslav Mađarić demonstrated how the application works.
Over a period of three months, citizens will have an opportunity to actively communicate with the City of Zagreb. They will be able to suggest ideas and actively comment, rate and monitor the status of any suggestion.
Every constructive initiative will be discussed and evaluated by other citizens of Zagreb, and, depending on the evaluation, its realization will be possible as part of development projects in offices, agencies or branches of Zagreb Holding. Ideas with the most likes and the ones rated as constructive by experts will become actual projects and the City of Zagreb will start their implementation.
