Traffic on Zagreb roads should go back to normal by the end of August.
Citizens of Zagreb have already had headaches due to numerous construction works causing traffic delays, but by the end of the month, everything should finally go back to normal, Večernji reports on August 8.
The City of Zagreb informed the citizens about changes in public transport and the season of summer works on Zagreb’s roads in advance and asked for their understanding and called for patience in possible traffic difficulties.
Works on Savska cesta, Jukićeva, and Vodnikova Streets intersection should be finished on August 28, after two months. During that period, there are no trams in Savska and Frankopanska from Vodnikova to Ilica and along Mihanovićeva and Vodnikova streets from the Main Railway Station to Savska, but all trams have alternative routes.
Works on repairing the 1,300-meter road from Dunjevac to Bijenik at Sveti Duh will last until August 14th. Works at Prilaz Gjure Deželića, from Krajiška to Kačićeva Streets should be finished on August 8.
A section of Slavonska avenija near Avenija Marina Držića is also being repaired, so traffic will be closed until August 11.
Due to hot water pipeline reconstruction, Jarnovićeva Street will be closed for traffic until August 16, from D. Pejačević to Lhotkina Street.
Streets which are partially closed due to works are: Primorska Street from Ilica to Klaićeve, Strma cesta (August 10-30), Prigornica (August 7 – 14), Dugoselska and Bedema ljubavi Streets will be renovated throughout August, ending on September 2, and Zagrebačka Street in Sesvete should be open on August 31. Works at Grančarska cesta and Ulica Jankomir are expected to finish on August 22.
A completely reconstructed tram line from Mihaljevac to Dol has recently been opened for traffic, as well as Kranjčevićeva Street.A part of the road at Jurišićeva/Palmotićeva intersection has been renovated, as well as Slavonska avenija, and Kneza Branimira Street.
Five major roads have been closed at the same time during this summer – Držićeva, Branimirova, Heinzelova, Vlaška, and Bukovačka, which meant that ten temporary traffic regulations were in place at the same time.
