Most children dream of having their own treehouse and, let’s be honest, growing up (or becoming a slightly taller child) doesn’t change the fact that treehouses are the stuff dreams are made of.
So, when I read Dblog’s post about the picnic that they had there, I couldn’t believe my eyes – a real-life treehouse, just an hour away from Zagreb.
If you drive to Barilović, just a few kilometres away from Mrežnica and Korana Rivers, you’ll find the charming wooden house that can make your childhood dreams come true. The house fits four, it features a terrace with mountain views, there’s a barbecue, free WiFi and private parking available on site, but there is no water or electricity, so this location is truly off the grid and it’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a digital detox.
If you’re slightly frightened because of the “no water or electricity” bit, have no fear – there’s solar lighting and rainwater, so the situation is more than bearable.
The best part of the story, though, is the fact that the owners Vlatka and Tihomir are also living their dream and that Tihomir built the house with his own hands, with a little help from his friends.
To make it even more idyllic, the activities you can do in include horse riding and canoeing.
Unfortunately, the following weekend is booked, but click here to find other dates and make your dreams come true and follow them on Facebook.
