Zagreb ZOO is Getting a Giraffe

Total Croatia News

Updated on:

As we reported here, Zagreb ZOO celebrated 92nd birthday on June 10. Zagreb Mayor Mr Milan Bandić joined the birthday party and announced an addition to the ZOO next year.
“Our City would not be what it is today without the ZOO, just as the ZOO would not be the ZOO without Zagreb,” the Mayor said, announcing that 20 million HRK will be allocated from the budget rebalancing in autumn in order to build a savannah so a giraffe could live there.

The giraffe has recently sparked a heated debate, when a question posted in one of the groups of Facebook got 850 replies about when a giraffe was last seen in Zagreb ZOO: many people claimed that they saw and fed the giraffe in the nineties, others claimed that it was during the eighties, while some former ZOO employees said that it was during the sixties, but no one has a photo to prove their claims.

Be that as it may, we’ll leave the debate to others and just state how happy we are that the ZOO is getting a tall new inhabitant!
