The Cravat Regiment is celebrating its day on Monday
On Monday, July 10, the Guard of Honour of the Cravat Regiment will traditionally celebrate its day – Day of the Cravat Regiment.
The ceremonial celebration (organised in cooperation with Zagreb Tourist Board) starts at 11 a.m., with the ”Blessing of the flag and regiment” event during a mass at St. Mark’s Church, which will be led by Mons. Ivan Šaško, auxiliary bishop of Archdiocese of Zagreb.
After the Mass, the audience will witness a solemn oath taken in Latin by new recruits. At exactly 5 p.m. on Dolac plateau, the main part of the celebration will begin with spectacular competitions and historical military games of Cravat regiment that will include archery, mace fight, “Sabljom na tikvu” competition, and other interesting disciplines. Army beans stew will be served to all contestants and citizens who join the celebration.
”We would like to invite citizens to join us in celebratory historical military fights and games that we have prepared for them and in which our soldiers will also participate. This is the 8th year that we are organising a public celebration to honour the Day of the Cravat Regiment in the very heart of Zagreb and this year we expect an even greater number of citizens and tourists,” Željko Matejčić, commander of the Cravat Regiment said.
The celebration will last until 9 p.m.
Additionally, the Regiment would like to invite all their friends and fans to join them at a gathering in Veliki Tolk pub at Opatovina 34 on Saturday, July 8, at 7 p.m. The event will serve as an introduction to the celebration on Monday and all members of the Guard of Honour will be present there, as well as their military drumming orchestra and a house band.
