European Museum Forum will be holding their annual ceremony in Zagreb, May 3 – 6, 2017.

The European Museum Forum, founded by Kenneth Hudson in 1977, operates under the auspices of the Council of Europe and is one of the leading non-profit organisations in Europe in developing the public quality of European museums, in collaboration with other international organizations.

They are the longest running and most prestigious awards in Europe and the aim is to recognize excellence in European museums and to encourage innovative processes for the benefit of society.
The awards include The European Museum of the Year Award, The Council of Europe Museum Prize, The Kenneth Hudson Award, The Silletto Prize and a number of Special Awards.

Museum of Broken Relationships, for example, won the Kenneth Hudson Award for Europe’s most innovative museum in 2011.

There are unfortunately no Zagreb nominees, but The Museum of Alka of Sinj has been nominated, which our sibling portal of Total Inland Dalmatia wrote about here. The winners will be announced during the final ceremony, on May 6, which will include a performance by National Folk Dance Ensemble of Croatia LADO.

Participants of the programme will attend various lectures and panel discussions, go on tours of Zagreb museums and see presentations of nominated museums.

Fingers crossed for The Museum of Alka of Sinj!
