If you want to learn something new this Saturday morning, stop by Dalmatinska ulica 12 (11 a.m. – 2 p.m.), find out how women’s shoes are made and get a 15% for your custom-made ballet flats or sandals.
Mr Zvonimir Simonović opened his shoemaking shop in 1978, after learning the trade from his family members. The shop specialises in custom-made women’s shoes. Their unique design is instantly recognisable because they don’t follow the latest trends, but stay true to classics. In 2012, the shop was included in Louis Vuitton Zagreb City Guide.
Mr Zvonimir’s daughter Nataša Trinajstić took over the shop in the 1990s and she says that people appreciate the uniqueness of their models and are prepared to pay more for quality shoes. The clients choose the colour and the mould type, and some of their most popular models include ballet flats, Oxford shoes and boots. They make women’s shoes up to size 45 (US size 13, UK size 10 1/2), and they often make shoes for TV shows and theatre plays.
Nataša says her mum and dad help her and numerous celebrities have recognised the quality of their shoes and they keep coming back for another pair, as well as foreign tourist who are slowly starting to recognise and fall in love with custom-made shoes.
