The biggest European Health Tourism conference is held in Zagreb this year

After being held in Vienna, Austria and Rovinj, Croatia in the past two years, the biggest European Health Tourism conference comes to Zagreb, where it is taking place March 1st – 3rd, in Westin Hotel.

HTI (Health Tourism Industry) conference is bringing together 400 participants from over 40 countries, including the world’s leading experts in the field of health tourism. They will participate in various meetings, forums organized by the prestigious organisations, lectures, workshops (some of which directed at sales), where they will be able to find out about the newest trends and future challenges for the industry. It will also be a perfect place for the HTI professionals to network, which is crucial in such a rapidly-growing industry and fast-paced environment.

The central event of this year’s conference is the B2B meeting ‘Buy Croatia – Health Tourism”, organized by Croatian Tourist Board, and which is expected to host more than 50 top international buyers. In addition to that meeting, specific destination forums “How to do business with” (organized by Croatian Chamber of Economy), where the audience will have the opportunity to explore the potentials of the great foreign markets with immense and yet untapped potential, including Russia, China, and the Middle East.

Insurance companies working in the healthcare industry also understand the importance of health tourism, and are part of the organization of this conference as well, so Cigna International will sponsor the 2nd European Health Tourism Industry Leaders Summit during which numerous ministers and leaders from European government organizations, and international institutions, business associations and industry will share their views on how to reposition Europe as a destination of health.

Some extremely notable and valuable keynote presentations were held, including the one held by Renée-Marie Stephano, president of the Medical Tourism Association of the United States of America and a lecture by Ognjen Bagatin, the director of Bagatin Clinic in Zagreb, one of the organizers of the event, who is also one of the key drivers of the recent growth of the health tourism sector in Croatia.

Other partners, aside from Bagatin Clinic, one of the major health tourism advocates on the Croatian market, in organizing the conference are EHTTA, Medical Tourism Association, ILHA, Deloitte, Akromion Special Hospital for Orthopaedic Surgery, Energy Clinic, M+ Agency and Mercedes. The event is held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.
