Zagreb’s culinary and gourmet scene has seen a boom in the past few years – street food, burgers, vegan, vegetarian, fusion – you name it, but raw food lovers haven’t really been given much choice. That’s where Vanja Šneller comes in – this twenty-five-year-old Business graduate has been around organic food his entire life because his parents work with Bio&Bio. He noticed that Zagreb lacks something more specific and decided to open Food Expert Deli in Jurišićeva, plavakamenica.hr reports.
Raw food is uncooked, unprocessed food which sometimes includes simply processed foods such as various types of fermented foods such as yogurts or sauerkraut, but generally not foods that have been pasteurized, homogenized or which have chemical food additives. It’s gaining more and more popularity because of its numerous health benefits.

While Bio&Bio is more of a supermarket, Food Expert offers a deli selection as well – you can buy fresh tacos, spring rolls, sushi, cakes, fresh juices, almond milk, granola – all prepared in their kitchen across the street. In addition to ready-made meals, there are also groceries and brands such as Katin kruh (gluten-free bread), Green Friends, Okinawa, Biotta and Viviani.
Šneller added that the plan is to gradually replace all products in the store by organic food products from small Croatian farmers and to offer to Zagreb public everything a healthy diet needs – from breakfast, lunch and takeout food, to groceries and supplements.
