Students will be able to learn about tourist destination branding.

There is more competition in tourism each day, so tourist destination branding skills are in demand, regional centre for youth ŽIC reports.

Prompted by another successful tourist season in Croatia, Student section of the Croatian PR Association in cooperation with Edward Bernays College for Communication Management has launched an education programme called PRiča o turizmu (Story about Tourism), intended for students of all higher education institutions in Croatia, especially those studying tourism and communication studies.

The aim of PRiča is to introduce the latest trends in tourism, show the importance of education in this area, and present ways how tourism destinations can be branded successfully. PRiča will take place September 18 – 20 at Bernays College (Ratkajev prolaz 8).

The theme of the workshop will be communicating in tourism and creating emotions through various activities. It is divided into six lectures and three interactive workshops taught by experts in tourism. Students will be able to discover how you can create an unforgettable experience in tourism, learn about the importance of the media in promoting and branding a destination and try creating their own stories (PRiče) about specific destinations.

The project is supported by Edward Bernays College for Communication Management which has introduced its own tourism programmes this year, linked to the concept of new economies, following contemporary trends and teaching students about creativity, branding, communication and a new concept of management and the experience economy.

“As many experts like to point out and as we’ve learned during our studies, tourism needs a constant level of innovativeness and creative communication that PR and other forms of communication can give. It is much more than the beach, the seas and the sun. The thing we bring back from our travel is the famous unforgettable experience, and the methods of creating that experience and emotions in tourism were our main guidelines in creating our story and PRiča’s programme,” project leader Ivan BIošić pointed out.
