A summer of theatre plays and concerts at the Croatian Natural History Museum starts tonight
Amadeo Theatre and Music Company is the only summer Company in Zagreb with an ongoing programme during the entire summer – from the end of June until September. During the season, the Company puts up an average of fifty theatre plays, concerts and movie events with a participation of over two hundred famous Croatian and foreign artists.
Founded in 2001, the Company is named after Amadeo’s theatre, the first public theatre in Zagreb, which lasted from 1797 to 1834 and which was located at the same place where Scena Amadeo Programme takes place today – Demetrova 1, in the atrium of the Croatian Natural History Museum.
The programme consists of music and theatre but is also open to film and other cultural performances. The music programme focuses on classical music concerts with a special accent on the performances of young talented artists, jazz concerts with affirmed Croatian and foreign musicians, as well as ethno and popular music concerts.
As far as the theatre programme is concerned, there are numerous premiers and re-runs of chamber theatrical and ballet plays, monodramas and a stand-up theatre of Croatian and foreign authors.
Some of the highlights of this year’s programme include Lado Ensemble Concert, Matija Dadić and guests, an exhibition dedicated to Tom Gotovac, Gypsy Band Juerga, Little Night Talks with Milana Vuković Runjić, and many other interesting cultural events, all of which you can find here.
