Four days of films and lectures start tonight

The fifth edition of Summer at the Archaeological Museum will take place July 10 – 13 at the Museum’s courtyard.

The audience will have a chance to watch two films, the Great Museum and Innocence of Memories, as well as a series of lectures on Zagreb as it once was by Milana Vuković Runjić and Daniel Rafaelić, who will tell stories about Zagreb, its political and social scene, and read excerpts from books written by authors whose main inspiration came from Zagreb, such as August Šenoa, A. G. Matoš, Marija Jurić Zagorka, Miroslav Krleža, and Croatian journalist and historian Josip Horvat.

On Monday, July 10, the film Great Museum will be screened at 9:30 p.m. The documentary by Johannes Holzhausen offers an in-depth look at daily life at one of the most famous cultural institutions in the world, The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.

On Tuesday, July 11, at 9:30 p.m. the audience will go on a noir adventure through the streets of Istanbul. Based on a novel by Orhan Pamuk The Museum of Innocence, Innocence of Memories is a story of a man who collects various objects of a woman as memory during their love period.

On Wednesday and Thursday, July 12 and 13, at 9 p.m., Milana Vuković Runjić and Daniel Rafaelić will take you on a tour of Zagreb from the early 20th c.– rare videos of Maksimir, Zagreb, Green Horseshoe, Corso Coffeehouse, Matoš and Krleža. The second lecture will be dealing with the expansion of Zagreb after WWI, marked by various big events, such as Miss Sava Pageant in 1929 and the big automobile and dance show at the Esplanade.
