The two-day event is part of the Zagreb Salon #52 programme.
As part of the current 52nd Zagreb Salon programme, an interesting programme called the ZS LABORATORY will be held on Thursday, October 19 and Friday, October 20, with two interesting programme nights at the Academy of Dramatic Art’s F22 Hall in Frankopanska.
The first evening of the ZS Laboratory is dedicated to dance, while the second night will be reserved for the Croatian fashion scene – Milena Rogulj, I-GLE, Galaš and Trešcec, Renata Svetić, Jadranka Hlupić Dujmušić and Petra Krpan and Chaims.
Organized by ULUPUH, this prominent national exhibition of contemporary art in the field of visual arts, design and architecture opened its doors on October 5, challenging the central topic of ‘(In) Applicability of Applied Art’ chosen for this year’s Salon by Curator Nikola Albaneže, with an excellent turnout to the exhibitions held at the Mimara Museum, School of Applied Art and Design – Izidor Kršnjavi Exhibition Hall and ULUPUH Gallery. The forthcoming events, united under the name ZS LABORATORY, are eagerly awaited.
“ZS LABORATORY will have two parts, taking place in two evenings. The first evening is dedicated to dance production, or the NACRTI show, whose creators are five young authors. Antonija Dorbić, in addition to graduating from the Undergraduate Study of Contemporary Dance at the Academy of Dramatic Arts, graduated Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and is a true representative of contemporary artists who create using several media. The second evening is dedicated to fashion and fashion performance. There will be six separate fashion ensembles whose authors are students or well-known fashion designers, former students of the Faculty of Textile Technology (TTF) of the University of Zagreb,” said Ivana Bakal, head of the 52nd Zagreb Salon.
The first and the second evening – focused on fashion events, shows and performances – will be linked by Arija Rizvić, a student studying Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art.
“The second evening will be a real treat for the fashion scene. Names say more than words: Milena Rogulj, I-GLE, Galaš and Treščec, Renata Svetić, Jadranka Hlupić Dujmušić and Petra Krpan, Chaims… With a multitude of collaborators in the production and behind the scenes, the clothes will be worn by TTF students as models and dancers led by Jasna Tarbuk,” concludes Ms Bakal, who expects a big turnout at the second evening of ZS LABORATORY.
Milena Rogulj will present her Layers collection, which focuses on the women’s complexity, Chaims, a new Croatian fashion brand founded in 2016 by designers Andrea Kurtić and Lora Holjevac, will present their Subconsiousness collection, inspired by the effect of emotions on the human mind.
Studio I-GLE will present their OM TAT SAT! show, and Martina Vrdoljak Ranilović and Nataša Mihaljščin will show their well-known experiments of design and technology combinations.
The renowned fashion designer and independent artist Renata Svetić will present her “Passion, Dream, Space, All (Nothing)” show, as well as her “Prajãti” sculpture. The sculpture in synergy with video and photography will make a trinity, with videos made by Renata Svetić and Nikola Šiško, and photos by Vanja Šolin.
Finally, designers Igor Galaš and Mario Treščec will present a new collection of fashion accessories consisting of works from the 52nd Zagreb Salon.
Another special attraction of the ZS LABORATORY that you should not miss is the fashion performance by Jadranka Hlepić Dujmušić and Petra Krpan. The fashion performance and synergy of two famous artworks are a continuation of their previous common conceptual works in which authors Petra Krpan and Jadranka Hlupić Dujmušić are engaged in exploring the relationship between fashion and body, physical transformations within contemporary fashion and dehumanization of the body. Performance choreography was made by Prof. Jasna Tarbuk, and it will be performed by contemporary dancers.
