Some very familiar bottles taking pride of place in a quality restaurant in Samobor.
A little less blogging activity in recent days on Total Hvar, as I have been up in Germany and Austria. Not that you can escape Hvar wherever you go these days…
The Hula Hula bus in the mountains of Austria, the mother of a child from ballet school in the check out queue at IKEA in Graz, that kind of thing.
We decided to have a wander around lovely Samobor in the fog, enjoy one final meal, then pick up the kids in Zagreb and head back to Split. A final meal away from Hvar before starting 2014 in earnest.
Not quite away from Hvar. A quick glance at the wine rack on entering one of the best restaurants in the town, and some rather friendly faces looking back. Tomić, PZ Svirče, Zlatan Otok, they were all taking pride of place on the top shelf. And not just ordinary wines – here was the Zlatan Grand Cru, the PZ Ivan Dolac Barrique organic gold-medal winner, and the fabulous 2007 Tomić Plavac Barrique, complete with Decanter Awards label.
Intrigued, I asked for the wine list while ordering a beer for myself. There were seven reds on the list, of which four were from Hvar.
Hvar quality – it is everywhere. Now let’s see what Hvar links I find in Albania tomorrow night…
