Beautiful Torac Bay in Gdinj – Great Birthday Trip

Some time after my daughter turned 1, I started a new tradition in our family regarding birthdays. Instead of gifts, we do something special according to the wish of the one whose birthday is celebrated.

Last year, I wanted to go to Šćedro for my birthday, but it did not work out as there was heavy rain the night before and our arranged taxi boat driver had an emergency –  finding a substitute apartment for his guests as their apartment was floated.

 

This year, I was not planning much ahead and just went with the flow. And although it was not my birthday today, I actually got my special trip today. The beautiful Torac Bay in Gdinj.

 

 

I know this place.

Way back when I was a teenager, my family used to rent a house here. It has been 15 years since my last visit, so I was really curious about how the place looks now.

 

Still breathtaking beautiful.

 

 

Some new houses were build, some roofs added, but the quiet and laid-back atmosphere is still there. The sea is so clear and the salinity must be higher than in Jelsa, because one hardly needs to move his arms and legs to swim.

I was watching a family on the beach. The father with 2 boys (around 10 years old) was taken by the owner of the house they were renting on a boat trip, probably fishing. Boys were very excited as they came back with their catch, while the mother was relaxing on the beach, drinking coffee.
