Some 20 firefighters from Hvar, Stari Grad and Jelsa are currently battling a fire in eastern Hvar, which broke out about 01:20 this morning. They are accompanied by 7-8 fire engines. Two Canadair planes joined the team about 07:30.
The fire broke out between the eastern settlements of Sucuraj and Bogomolje, and as of time of writing (07:00), the blaze is not yet under control, and there is no information on the size of the fire.
We will update this article as we get more information, but please be extremely careful in these hot and dry times. One careless action could have disastrous consequences.
