The Pakleni Islands are one of the biggest attractions on the island of Hvar, with a large number of tourists staying in Hvar Town heading out in the water taxis to destinations such as Carpe Diem Beach, Jerolim and Palmizana each day to escape the crowds, soak up the sun and swim in the pristine Adriatic.
And while many may think that the Pakleni Islands is all about beaches, nature and the sea, it does in fact also house one of the liveliest cultural centres on the Adriatic, with an art gallery, exhibitions and classical concerts throughout the summer.
Art Palmizana Meneghello is an essential part of one of Croatia’s most successful and innovative tourism success stories, and one which has been leading the way since its inception in 1906 on the all but deserted island of Sveti Klement, a full five years before the first hotel opened in Jelsa.
Art Palmizana Meneghello has just had its latest exhibition featured in the Huffington Post, as part of a longer piece on booming tourism amidst Croatia’s political turmoil. Read the article in full here, and follow the Art Palmizana Meneghello cultural summer on Facebook.
