D-Day for Stari Grad: Your Last Chance to Vote

Total Croatia News

The final day… Have you voted for Stari Grad and its nomination for Best European Destination 2017 yet? If not, you can vote here.

Over the last 15 years, I have got to know Stari Grad well, and I have watched it grow into a tourist destination with some serious potential.

The main building blocks were always there of course – UNESCO World Heritage Site, divine 2400 year-old old town, spectacular bay and Europe’s sunniest island, but in the last few years, Stari Grad has really pushed forward, and it truly has the potential now to become one of the great destinations on the Adriatic Coast.

Already well connected by main ferry terminal and small airstrip, investment is happening in increasingly significant numbers. Infrastructure projects like the installing of a sewage system and extending the riva have been matched by private investment. From the fabulous Apolon restaurant and boutique rooms, which has put Stari Grad on the Hvar luxury map, to the forthcoming villa development of Olive Bay, as well as – even more significantly – the opening of the Four Seasons Hotels resort at Brizenica Bay (scheduled for 2019), Stari Grad is in an inceasingly strong position to develop and brand itself as a destination for luxury, cultured tourism, without the stigma of the party, which is tarnishing other parts of the island.

Exciting times for this little town, the latest in its rich 2400 year history. Why not play your small part by casting a vote for the town on the final day of voting. Vote here
