One of the nicest developments in tourist information over the six years I have been following things via Total Hvar has been the improvement in information flow in Jelsa. Long term readers of the blog will fondly remember the era of Telepathy Tourism, where guests were presented with a blank page of events on the official website, and any flyers and promotional material was in Croatian only. Very tourist friendly.
Not only has all that changed, but the Jelsa Tourist Board has become very proactive in recent times, promoting all events in both English and Croatian. The establishing of Jelsa as Wine Thursday has given wine lovers a fixed day to remember to visit, and another great feature is the weekly event highlights which are posted on the Jelsa Tourist Board Facebook page. These postings are also very useful in the winter, as they give information on which restaurants are opening, and where one might find accommodation.
A very varied week this week, with two of the highlights being the annual klapa festival which takes place on Jelsa’s main square tonight, and the fabulous Etho Hvar Festival in gorgeous Humac later in the week.
To keep up with all the events in Jelsa throughout the summer, follow the Jelsa Tourist Board on Facebook.
