It has been really interesting watching new Jelsa Tourist Board director Ivo Dubokovic approaching his new position. Ivo is of course Croatia’s leading boutique winemaker (and if you have not had the Dubokovic wine tasting experience, don’t leave the island without it), as well as a respected professor of marketing, so it is perhaps little surprise to see him building on the excellent work of the Hvar Wine Association’s tasting programme over the last few summers, by officially renaming Thursdays in Jelsa for the next five months.
For, from tonight, Thursdays in Jelsa will be known as Wine Day.
Every Thursday, for the next five months, the Hvar Wine Association will be in action with accompanying live music, starting tonight in the pretty square of St. John, just off the main square. These are some of the most enjoyable evenings in the Hvar calendar, a chance to experience a unique Dalmatian atmosphere, as well as trying a range of fantastic wines, most from indigenous varieties.
And let’s keep it simple for the tourists to remember. Thursday is Wine Day in Jelsa for months to come. See you there! From 19:00 tonight.
