When I first started Total Hvar almost five years ago, people told me that I would have nothing to write about after a few weeks.
Starting the website in mid-October just after the season had finished, I began to wonder if somehow they may be right, but with now almost 9,000 articles just about Hvar on this site, I can honestly say that if I had the time, I could have written double that amount. Easily. For this is one amazing island, with so much to discover.
The other thing I have come to accept is that there is simply no way to keep up with all the change that happens on a tourist island like this. In Jelsa alone, I think there are at least six new restaurants and bars for this season alone, and no sooner do you publish a guidebook, than it is already out of date.
As I am more on the mainland and in Munich these days, it is also very hard to keep up with all the change and travel around the island, which is why last night was so pleasant. I arranged to meet with friends, who suggested that we go to a bar which had opened last summer on the edge of Jelsa between Mina Beach and Camp Holiday.
I had never heard of it, indeed I can’t remember the last time I walked that way, but it was more than worth the effort. Passing lots of happy campers and several bathers taking their last swim of the day at Mina, I continued on until I found the recommended bar just below the entrance to Camp Holiday.
Naturo Beach Bar, a rather idyllic spot, not just for the view of Mina Beach, but perhaps more so for its views out to the open sea. Tastefully furnished and with more than reasonable prices for such a location, I wondered why I had not heard about this slice of paradise until now. It seems that there is plenty of activity throughout the day – yoga anyone?
And one thing that particularly impressed me was that they had good quality wine by the glass, a rarityin such places, and my two companions enjoyed the end of the day with a glass each of the fabulous Caric Bogdanusa.
A wonderful place to relax at the end of another day at the beach in Jelsa.
Check out a few photos below of Naturo at various times of the day, and follow them on Facebook here. To reach Natura, follow the road from Mina Beach and you will see it on the left just before the entrance to Camp Holiday.
