Coming from Manchester and a culture of ‘No sex, we’re British’, I did not grow up with a culture of naturism, and as the only vegetables I ever saw were in supermarkets or on the dinner plate, I could not have identified an olive tree if you had put one in front of me before moving to Hvar.
So it is a sign of how much Dalmatia has changed me that I have not only become acquainted with both (the olives more than the naturism), but find myself blogging about the two in combination on a Saturday morning before Christmas.
People are always talking about extending the season, but how about this for a novel concept? Nudist olive picking…
Kamp Nudist in Vrboska has had another great year catering to a large number of FKK guests. As the island’s premier naturist camp, secluded in the pine trees just outside Vrboska, the camp has built up a loyal following of tourists who come year after year, attracted by the service, facilities and great beach.
Those who stay long enough are sometimes given a parting present, a bottle of the camp’s own olive oil, which does look rather impressive looking at the bottle The Boss brought home as a Christmas present yesterday.
Although the quantities of olives are not large, could this be the only FKK resort in the world which produces its own olive oil? And could FKK olive picking in 2014 be the latest niche tourism on this wonderful island?
