I haven’t visited too many of the Hvar Town restaurants this summer, as Total Croatia News and other projects have kept me very busy on the mainland, but I am keeping up with the feedback from various sources, and it is great to hear that one of my favourites, the crazy gang from Lucullus, are continuing to provide excellent food and service, as well as one or two unusual extras…
Some average businesses aim to mask the poor quality of their product with gimmicks, and the show each night at Lucullus would be an example of that, if the food and service was not so good, but both are excellent, and the theatrics one encounters are a very lively extra.
I spent 12 hours with some American journalists earlier this summer, and my task was to show the very best and the very quirkiest aspects of Hvar in 12 hours. The photographer had just landed from Canada and this was his first ever day in Europe. We made a stop at Lucullus, which included opening Champagne with a sword and some plate smashing. As you can see from the video above (the Crazy Gang make their entrance at 02:10, but watch the whole thing if you want a very nice snapshopt of Hvar in 3 minutes), Lucullus made the greatest impression of the day.
