Looking to combine some lively nightlife with a glass or three of wine?
My favourite street in Hvar is Gastro Street, the short adjacent street to the main square in the direction of the fortress.
It has sorts of treasures…
It is a street which has quality at every tune. Why not start by browsing through the jewellery shop which so delighted Beyonce on her infamous trip to Hvar in 2011?
Of course, being Gastro Street, food is a major emphasis, from the sophistication of Giaxa and the slo food of Golden Shell, to the palatial gardens of Paladini and the crazy party of Lucullus, there is something for everyone.
And then there is wine entertainment.
Every time I walk along Gastro Street after 22:00, I smile to myself. With people talking about the Hvar party and great clubbing, here is a small wine bar called 3 Prsuta, where people are free to let their hair down and to relax as they choose in the company of a most engaging host, who has that rare trick of being able to judge his guests moods and requirement, and adjust the atmoshphere accordingly.
Come for a glass, stay for a bottle, is the slogan of 3 Prsuta, Hvar’s original wine bar. And many do. And then come again. A 2014 TripAdvisor certificate of excellence is testament to the quality of the experience.
There are other wine bars in Hvar these days, and they all serve a function, but there is nothing like the spontaneity and sense of fun on offer at 3 Prsuta, 7 nights a week. With several tables outside as well as in, it is of course possible to enjoy the romance of Gastro Street (surely one of Hvar’s most charming) with a loved one. Or head inside and experience a different atmosphere.
