In the small town of Vidovec within Varazdin county, something mega took place: day two of the Zeljarijada festival.
Zeljarijada is a festival that brings together economics, culture and entertainment. Since its first beginnings in 1997, Zeljarijada’s festive flare has been noticed outside of Croatia’s borders as one you shouldn’t miss, and we think, perhaps, it’s the kilometer long “sarma” that reels festival goers in.
With head chef Damir Crleni in charge, a kilometer of cabbage rolls (cabbage leaves stuffed with minced meat, what we like to call “sarma”) was enjoyed by festive patrons on the second day of Zeljarijada. This sarma is so famous, it even made the Guinness Book of World Records several years ago!
Amongst the 10,000 visitors to Vidovec over the weekend, some notable guests were Mayor of Vidovec Bruno Hranić, Davor Ivo Stier, Mayor of Varazdin County Predrag Štromar, Marijana Petir and many others.
For the final day of the festival, today, you can expect a fair of traditional crafts, parades, international folklore and music entertainment.
