Croatian Craft Brewery “Međimurski Lepi Dečki” has gone one step further this holiday season: forget the mulled wine, this winter it’s all about mulled beer.

Just the other day we introduced our readers to (or rather informed them about) mulled wine, a drink otherwise known in Croatia as “kuhano vino”: a staple to every Advent event. Today we introduce you to mulled beer, a new concept by Lepi Dečki Brewery located in Čakovec.

While many of us would most likely cover our mouths and run at the thought of warm beer (except for maybe the English), mulled beer is actually quite good, and we wouldn’t be surprised if this Međimurski brewery is paving the way for more mulled beer enthusiasts during the winter holidays.

So what does it taste like? Lepi Dečki claims the taste is bittersweet with a hint of spice, most likely similar to something between a sparkling hot sweet tea and mulled wine.

Lepi Dečki Brewery makes the mulled beer from their first Craft Lager – Međimursko beer, a local brand of craft brew that is sweeter by nature and darker in color than regular lagers with a soft, bitter aftertaste.

Available exclusively in Čakovec at the Christmas Market near the medieval Franciscan Monastery or at the Old Town Fort of the Zrinski Family, it’s really just a short trip away for the taste of something wonderful.
