November the 18th, 2024 – January the 10th, 2025, is reserved for the 10th WineOS, the most important win event in central Croatia. The event promises plenty of winemakers, panels, workshops and entertainment.

As Plava kamenica/Kult plave kamenice writes, hailed by most worldwide as the longest, most dreary month of the year, January is usually cold, gloomy and empty in terms of public events. Thankfully, the 10th WineOS is set to brighten up the coming one. Wine lovers have a great reason to look forward to 2025’s maiden month and can spend two unforgettable days in eastern Croatia. While there, why not stay longer a little longer to explore Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem?

the 10th of january for the 10th wineos

One of the biggest and most important wine events in all of Croatia, the 10th WineOS by Graševina Croatica, is cleverly being timed in a period when calendars are usually empty. This year, WineOS celebrates a big anniversary, its tenth edition. It will be held on January the 10th and 11th next year in the Economic Centre of the Osijek-Baranja County in Osijek. The fair brings plenty of interesting things every year and is constantly growing. It therefore goes without saying that the 10th WineOS will also bring something new in 2025.

Conceived as the central wine event of eastern Croatia, WineOS achieved its goal even before this tenth iteration, becoming an indispensable gathering place for the most important wine and food producers of the region. From the very beginning, WineOS had the support of Graševina Croatica, a regional organisation of wine producers, and this cooperation has been constantly growing from year to year. Graševina Croatica is now the main partner of the Dekanter association in the organisation of WineOS.

much more than your typical wine event

Ten years after the very first fair, WineOS is set to offer much more than tasting new and aged wines. Wineries can present cellar tours and other things they offer. An important segment of the fair is also the connection of producers with distributors, restaurateurs and hoteliers, since wine lists for the summer tourist season are usually prepared as early as January.

In addition to local producers, WineOS by Graševina Croatica regularly promotes various visiting winemakers from other Croatian regions and neighbouring countries. This year, at the ninth edition, local winemakers took up about 60 percent of the fair, while room was left for guests from Slovenia, Hungary, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Austria and Spain.

The 10th WineOS is set to be accompanied by a rich additional programme. On the main stage, there will be a cooking show, presentations of wine and vineyards, demonstrations of the work of vocational schools, panels on winemaking and gastronomy. There will also be more to be learned from the well-known men and women from Osijek who promote WineOS. Several professional masterclasses will also be held.

workshops and more at the 10th wineos

In to the aforementioned parts of the programme, the 10th WineOS has more up its sleeve. During the fair, visitors will be able to participate in workshops organised by Graševina Croatica, where wineries, vineyards and varieties from across the vast swathes of eastern Croatia will be presented. Guests will also have a rare opportunity to taste young Graševina. Fans of quizzes will be able to take part in a thematic quiz led by Dean Kotiga, and all visitors will be able to choose their favourites at the fair in several categories through the application.

Let’s now have a look at the WineOS numbers. Last year, the ninth WineOS was organised in a space spanning over 2,800 square metres inside the same Economic Centre. Over the two days of the event, 4,000 people attended the fair. Around 4,000 glasses were used, in which over 600 different wines and spirits were tasted. 3,000 litres of water were consumed, as was a tonne of ice. The workshop participants tasted around seventy wines along with several types of French cheeses and olive oils.

For all those eager to enjoy some wine and accompanying delicacies, the 10th WineOS by Graševina Croatica will take place on January the 10th and 11th from 15:00 to 21:00, and the daily ticket price is 30 euros. On both days, there will also be an after party in the heart of Osijek. All those who want to continue enjoying themselves will be able to stay in Slavonia, Baranja and Srijem. This is worth doing as celebrations on the occasion of the feast of St. Vincus will begin the weekend after the 10th WineOS takes place.
