2Cellos Decline Trump’s Invitation to Play at Inauguration

During their successful five-year career, the 2CELLOS have met the many famous faces of the world, including a wide array of singers, actors and politicians. It is no surprise then that the 2CELLOS received a special call from the United States ahead of a very historic day…

The 2CELLOS are the only musicians from Croatia who have received a rather unusual call, and one that came directly from the staff of the new president of the United States, Donald Trump, reports Vecernji List on January 4, 2017.

International media has been adorned with headlines over the last few weeks about the upcoming Trump inauguration and who will be the special musical guest. It’s no surprise then that the upcoming president expressed a desire for internationally popular 2CELLOS to perform on his special day.

Unfortunately, to add to Trump’s lack of musical luck for the inauguration, the 2CELLOS had to decline – adding to the list of those that have also declined Trump’s invitation before them.

It has been said that the 2CELLOS declined due to pre-planned events and urgent business commitments, and Stjepan and Luka both thanked Trump for the invitation anyhow.

The 2CELLOS this year have some mega shows lined up, including their sold-out concert at Arena Stožice in Ljubljana where they are scheduled to play on April 7, 2017. The venue even added another date, on April 8th, to ensure around 30,000 people will enjoy the popular pair over two days.

Bravo, 2CELLOS!
