On the wings of last year’s success, the City of Sinj, the Sinj Tourist Board, the Shrine of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj, and the invaluable help of several associations have organized a rich program for this year’s highly anticipated Advent in Sinj.

At the opening ceremony of Advent on December 2, 2017, Sinj mayor Kristina Križanac and pastor Fr. Perica Maslać lit the first Advent candle to begin the month-long event. All present expressed their delight with this beautiful gesture which took place for the first time in the town.

As if the burning Advent Candle sparked the bright, warm, holiday spirit in Sinj’s fellow citizens, the program continued with the announcement of future events in the expectation of Christmas. The program, filled with joy, progressed with a performance of the Mixed Choir of Sinj and the Sinj Majorettes, and was sweetened with cakes and other pastries prepared by the hands of the members of the Sinj Feral Association for the visitors of “Snow Town”.

The week was full of events; cooperative programs with a particular emphasis on tradition were presented by the municipalities of Dicmo, Hrvace, Otok and the town of Trilj, and on Friday, December 8th, despite the bad weather, the popular Sinj group Z-band performed to a lively audience.

In addition to the outdoor entertainment, the people of Sinj and their guests had an opportunity to view three performances by visiting amateur theaters. The performances included “The Swastika” by the Vitez Municipal Youth Theater in BiH, “Adio mameti” by the Association of Đakovo Amateur Actors, and “Hebemu Miša” from the Croatian House of Vukovar.
